Find an apprenticeship
An apprenticeship combines work in an occupation with structured training and assessment. It leads towards occupational competence under an approved apprenticeship standard.
What an apprenticeship involves
An approved apprenticeship has:
- an employer and a training provider
- a recognised occupation and apprenticeship standard
- real work alongside planned training
- assessment and a record of completion
Training alongside a job is not automatically an apprenticeship. The programme must be approved under the Havenstead Apprenticeships Framework.
Find and apply for a place
You can search Civil Service Jobs for apprenticeships. Other employers and training providers advertise apprenticeships through their own recruitment services. Check each advert for its entry requirements, work arrangements, training programme and application process.
During your apprenticeship
Your employer and training provider are responsible for the work and training arrangements. You may ask about support, accessibility and recognition of learning you have already completed.
Completing an apprenticeship
Completion depends on meeting the required occupational standard and assessment arrangements. It does not give an external qualification or professional licence unless the relevant authority recognises it.
Skills Havenstead oversees apprenticeship standards and skills programmes. For general careers help, see Find work, skills and training.
