Recruitment
The Commission protects the principle that appointments to the Civil Service are made on merit on the basis of fair and open competition, subject to the lawful exceptions provided by the recruitment rules.
Civil Service Code
The Commission has a role in the arrangements for raising concerns under the Civil Service Code where the applicable procedure gives it jurisdiction.
Independence
The Commission carries out its functions independently. Departments and recruiting organisations remain responsible for running recruitment exercises and for their own employment decisions within the common rules.
