Our aim is to help people enter, remain in and progress through meaningful work, while building the skills and capability needed across United Hampshire.

- employment and skills services, including the National Employment Service and Skills Havenstead where established
Priorities
Our priorities are to:
- increase participation in useful and sustainable work
- connect people with genuine vacancies, opportunities and employment support
- develop practical skills, apprenticeships and progression pathways
- support realistic working arrangements for people with education, employment, disability, anxiety or other commitments
- improve role quality, workforce standards and professional development
Who we are
We are a ministerial department responsible for work and skills policy.
We work with employers, public-service organisations, education providers and other departments. Treasury retains pay and public-finance control, the Department for Education retains curriculum ownership, and the Cabinet Office retains constitutional stewardship of the Civil Service.
