The Police Information Access Panel provides specialist independent governance for access to sensitive police information within its remit.
Responsibilities
- We consider requests or questions concerning access to sensitive police information that are assigned to the Panel.
- We apply the relevant information-security, necessity, proportionality and access-control requirements.
- We record and explain decisions or recommendations through the proper governance route.
- We do not replace the Information Commissioner’s Office, courts or operational police decision-makers where those bodies have jurisdiction.
