The UH Statistics Authority promotes and safeguards the production and publication of official statistics that serve the public good.
The UH Statistics Authority is an independent non-ministerial department. It safeguards the integrity, quality and comprehensiveness of official statistics and promotes good statistical practice.
The Authority has two principal functions:
- oversight of the Office for National Statistics, its executive office
- independent scrutiny, monitoring and assessment of official statistics produced within its remit
The Authority operates independently in the exercise of its statistical functions and is accountable through the constitutional and parliamentary arrangements applying to it.
