Ministerial expression of interest: privacy notice
How the Chief Minister’s Office will handle information submitted through the ministerial expression of interest service.
Who is responsible
The Chief Minister’s Office is responsible for information submitted through the ministerial expression of interest service. The Cabinet Office supports the administration of the service.
For questions about your personal information, email ministerial-eoi@cabinetoffice.gov.uhrblx.com.
Information we collect
We ask for your preferred name, email address, areas of ministerial interest, reasons for your interest and usual availability.
You can also tell us about a particular ministerial role, relevant experience, any public or operational office you hold and communication adjustments you would find helpful.
We record the date and reference number of your submission, any correspondence and the outcome of its consideration.
How we use your information
We use your information to consider your expression of interest, contact you, arrange discussions and keep the records necessary to account for decisions.
Submitting an expression of interest does not constitute an appointment.
Lawful basis and sensitive information
The Chief Minister’s Office processes information needed to consider ministerial expressions of interest as part of its public functions under section 7(1)(e) of the United Hampshire Data Protection Act 2026. Where UK data protection law applies, the UK General Data Protection Regulation and Data Protection Act 2018 also govern that processing.
We do not ask for medical diagnoses, political opinions, criminal-record information or identity documents. Please do not include them in your answers. You can request a communication adjustment without disclosing a diagnosis. Any sensitive information received is subject to the additional safeguards required by law.
Who has access
Access to applications is restricted to officials authorised to administer or consider them in the Chief Minister’s Office and, where necessary, the Cabinet Office. GOV.UH Forms, the receiving email service and their infrastructure providers process information needed to operate the service.
Your answers and personal email address are not published. Any formal record of a subsequent ministerial appointment is separate.
How long we keep information
We keep information while an expression of interest is being considered and for as long as necessary to handle correspondence, account for decisions and meet records requirements. We review information when consideration ends and delete or retain it according to the applicable records obligations.
Your rights
You can ask for access to your information, request a correction or ask to withdraw your expression of interest. Other data protection rights apply according to the circumstances and the relevant law.
Contact ministerial-eoi@cabinetoffice.gov.uhrblx.com and provide your form reference if you have it. You may also complain to the United Hampshire Information Commissioner or, where UK law applies, the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
