Libraries and archives
Libraries and archives help people find, read and research books, records and other material. Different organisations hold different collections.
Havenstead Library
Havenstead Library collects, preserves and describes published and documentary material of lasting public value. It supports research, study and access to national library collections.
The Library is sponsored by the Department for Culture, Media and Recreation. Its Board and Chief Executive are responsible for the Library’s work.
Find a book or collection
Check the relevant library’s catalogue, collection information and access arrangements. Some material may need an appointment or may have copying restrictions.
Government and historical records
The National Archives and other competent record holders are responsible for the collections and services assigned to them. A library catalogue is not always the right route for an official government record.
Use the government organisations directory to find the organisation responsible for a collection or archive.
