How to make a freedom of information (FOI) request
Overview
You have the right to ask to see recorded information held by public authorities.
This is known as a Freedom of Information (FOI) request.
You can make an FOI request to a public authority if you want information such as:
- how much it has spent on something
- how it makes decisions
- what its policies are
You can also ask for information about yourself under the data protection rules.
