Public telecommunications services

The National Telecommunications Service (NTS) provides communications infrastructure for public bodies. It supports government networks, telephone and radio services, and the communications used by emergency services.

Services provided by NTS

NTS supplies and maintains services for authorised organisations. These can include network connections, operational radio systems, telephone services, technical support and recovery arrangements.

Contacting a public service

If you need to report an incident, ask about a case or contact a public service, use that organisation’s published contact details. For example, police services handle police incidents and the National Wellbeing Service handles its own support enquiries.

NTS maintains communications infrastructure for these services; the organisations themselves handle their public enquiries and decisions.

Report a technical problem

Public organisations using NTS services follow the technical fault and incident arrangements agreed with NTS. Members of the public should contact the service they were trying to use.

NTS is an executive agency sponsored by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology.
