About us
The Government Property Agency manages central government office property and workplace services and supports the transformation of the Civil Service estate.
The Government Property Agency (GPA) manages central government office property and workplace services placed within its portfolio. It works with departments to provide effective workplaces, improve use of the estate and deliver value from shared property services.
GPA works alongside the Government Property Function, Government Estates Management and the departments responsible for wider infrastructure and local-government policy. Managing government offices does not transfer those departments’ substantive functions to the Agency.
Who we are
GPA is an executive agency of the Cabinet Office. It provides specialist office-property and workplace capability across government.
Our responsibilities
We are responsible for:
- managing non-specialist government office property transferred or assigned to the Agency
- improving utilisation and reducing avoidable estate costs
- providing estate, facilities and workplace services
- applying commercial property expertise in supplier and property decisions
- supporting asset management and property advice for departments
- improving the quality and transparency of estate information used for decision-making
Our priorities
Our priorities are to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the government office estate, provide flexible workplaces that support public-service delivery, improve value for money, and support sustainable management of government property.
