Taking part in organised activities

Before joining a recreation session or event, check the organiser’s announcement for the time, location, rules and joining instructions.

Before the activity

The announcement should tell you:

  • who is organising the activity
  • when it starts and how long it lasts
  • where to go or which platform to use
  • who can take part and whether booking is required
  • how to request an adjustment or other help

During the activity

Follow the organiser’s instructions and conduct rules. Organisers should explain how to ask for help or report a concern.

If you witness threatening behaviour or a safeguarding concern, tell the designated organiser or use the relevant safeguarding reporting route. For immediate danger in the real world, contact the real emergency services.

Changes and cancellations

The organiser should publish changes, cancellations and revised joining instructions through its official channels. If you have booked a place, check the booking information for any updates.
