Responsibilities
Cabinet Office supports collective Cabinet government, the centre of government, the Civil Service, propriety and ethics, public appointments, resilience and cross-government coordination where these functions are allocated to it. It also works with Lord Lieutenant’s Treasury on the corporate leadership of government.
Priorities
Our priorities are set by the government of the day and the Cabinet Office responsibilities assigned in the current machinery of government. We support ministers and departments to deliver agreed government priorities, strengthen public administration and maintain effective cross-government systems.
Who we are
Cabinet Office is a ministerial department. It includes ministerial offices, Civil Service teams and Cabinet Office bodies with distinct statutory or administrative functions. Each body remains responsible for its own functions and public information.
