About us
The UH Fair Work Agency acts to protect workers and ensure employers comply with the law within its United Hampshire remit.
The UH Fair Work Agency is an executive agency of the Department for Work and Skills. It is the operational employment-rights enforcement body for matters assigned to it within the United Hampshire State.
Responsibilities
- We inspect and investigate compliance with fair-work and employment standards within our legal remit.
- We require corrective action or take enforcement action where our powers allow.
- We work with employers, workers, Acas and other regulators while respecting their separate functions.
- We exercise only powers established by law or another competent authority and do not determine employment tribunal cases.
Who we are
The Agency is led by a Chief Executive. Its governance includes the UH Fair Work Agency Advisory Board, with independent, worker and employer representation alongside executive members.
What we do not do
We do not replace Acas, the Central Arbitration Committee, the Certification Officer, the Equality and Human Rights Commission, the Health and Safety Executive, the Workforce Standards Inspectorate, courts or tribunals. Prosecution decisions remain with the competent prosecuting authority unless legislation expressly provides otherwise.
Our legal basis
The Agency exercises only the functions and powers assigned under Part 5 of the Employment Rights Act 2026 and other applicable United Hampshire legislation.
